2025 was an insane year for Lightdash.
We thought 2024 would be hard to beat after raising our Series A. But somehow, 2025 went bigger. We shipped a ton, grew the team, landed some genuinely cool customers, travelled a lot, and had a ridiculous amount of fun along the way.
So we're celebrating with the third edition of Lightdash Zapped 2025! Our annual wrap-up of what we built, what you built, and everything that made this year unforgettable.
🌍 We went further than ever
2025 was the year Lightdash went global. We grew across continents, time zones, and maybe even parallel universes (let a girl hope…).
We reached 58,153 users across 32 countries. That's customers across 12 time zones, which means someone is always online, probably making a chart. And someone at Lightdash is always awake to help when you need it.

We also did our first ever Lightdash world tour. We hit 10 countries across 3 continents. I did the math and that’s approximately 47,009 miles traveled in the year. No big deal. Though someone should check on our Head of Finance.
Seriously, we went everywhere. We ran our first Lightdash Meetup in Tokyo, we spoke at the dbt Meetup in Singapore, and we ran a custom hot sauce workshop in Las Vegas for Coalesce! We met thousands of you at events and loved every minute of it:
12 events attended
1,150 stickers handed out
900 hot sauces distributed

And we probably heard someone say "Oh, Lightdash! I've heard of you!" about 200 times.
📊 You queried like there was no tomorrow
You built a lot of things. And I mean a lot of things.
From beautiful dashboards to charts that probably made your CEO ask, "Can you send me this every Monday?"
In 2025, we saw:

Including a few versions that were probably named “final_final_v7” and a handful of dashboards likely created past midnight. Luckily, Lightdash now has dark mode so you can build dashboards all night long if that’s your idea of a good time (hey - we don’t judge!)
🚀 We also shipped…a truly ridiculous amount
Our engineering team kept their streak of shipping fast, shipping often, and shipping with confidence. This year, we shipped:

We ship quickly because you build quickly and we love keeping up. Seriously, we even have a custom emoji for it:

We've been closing GitHub issues at a rate of 11.5/day since we started the Lightdash repo in May 2021. I don’t think that’s normal but we love it anyway.
👷🏻♀️ Our favorite features
This year’s seen a lot of great features. But here are some of my personal favourites:
Lightdash AI
The Lightdash AI agent became everyone’s new best friend. You asked it some serious business questions… and some that were very much not.
More control for data developers
We gave Lightdash data developers more superpowers to manage, build, and measure content for their teams.
Security improvements for scale
We became SOC2 compliant this year 🥳 and released features that help teams scale securely.
Little, big improvements
We also shipped:
New chart types (gauge charts, map charts)
Chart UI improvements
New partnerships (like ClickHouse)
Parameters
…and a lot more that quietly made Lightdash better every day.
💌 Our open-source family got bigger
Our community thrived in 2025. You opened issues, shipped PRs, supported each other, and made Lightdash better in thousands of little ways. We can’t thank you enough 💜
This year, we had:
40 GitHub contributors. Shout-out to each person who contributed.
5,400 GitHub stars. The love from the open source community grew.
2,594 Slack community members. More folks building Lightdash with us.
4,150 support messages answered Thanks to our amazing engineering and support team.
Open source isn’t just part of Lightdash. It is Lightdash.
🎉 We had fun too
Behind Lightdash is a team that takes fun seriously. While we shipped new features, we made sure to actually enjoy ourselves:

If insights were powered by caffeine alone, our uptime would be 100%.
⚡️ And that’s a Zap!
2025 was bold, fast, and filled with big swings.
2026 will be even bigger! More AI superpowers, more open-source magic, and more ways to get insights at lightning speed.
Thank you for being part of this crazy journey 💜
Here’s to another year of powerful dashboards, curious questions, and (un)surprisingly competitive video games.
See you in 2026! Let’s make something brilliant 🤩
